GALLERY: Welcome back to the CASNR Dean's Office Christmas Open House
By: Norman Martin
A longtime holiday tradition – the CASNR Deans Office Christmas Open House – rolled out in a new venue this morning (Dec. 15) at the Texas Tech University Dairy Barn. The newly refurbished campus icon was this years holiday home for CASNR faculty and staff, along with our friends across campus, to gather for a face-to-face selection of Christmas goodies from colorful cookies to beefy appetizers.
Visitors were welcomed by CASNR Interim Dean Cindy Akers; Robert Cox, Interim Associate Dean for Academic and Student Programs; Christy Bratcher, Associate Dean for Research; and Alex Yack, CASNR Senior Director of Development. Also on hand were the professional staff of the Deans Office and Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center.
After more than five decades of standing vacant, the historic Dairy Barn last year received new life and once again is a functional part of the university thanks to a $3.5 million restoration project. One of the oldest buildings on campus – built in 1926 – the Dairy Barn now serves as a vital and functioning academic facility, complete with office and meeting spaces that make it a key collaborative and conference space for students, faculty, staff and alumni.
