More than 25 landscape architecture firms from across Texas and beyond will be on the Texas Tech campus next week to take part in the Department of Landscape Architecture WreckShop 2024. The two-day conference (Oct. 24-25) encompasses a series of networking, professional development and collaborative opportunities. This years theme is ‘Beyond the Horizon.
“WreckShop offers a valuable opportunity not only for our award-winning students but also for our nationally acclaimed alumni and practitioners in the region,” said Leehu Loon, professor and chair of Techs, Department of Landscape Architecture. “It allows them to return to campus, connect with each other, and meet their future professional colleagues.”
He added that the event is a critical part of efforts to connect students with high-impact experiences that enrich their education and to prepare them for success on their internships and after graduation. Also, as a student-coordinated function, it helps student leaders take the spotlight in front of industry representatives while supporting their peers.
Thursday afternoons session (Oct. 24) features a lecture series led by Clayton Bruner, Associate Principal at SWA in Houston, and David Maida, Principal with GGN with Seattle in the Student Union Buildings Escondido Theater. Later that evening there will be a welcome reception, hosted by Anova, Hunter and USA Shade, at Miguel's Restaurant in Lubbock.
