The Tech Therapeutic Riding Center (TTRC) is proud to relaunch its Sponsor A Horse program, giving sponsors a meaningful way to directly impact the lives of individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. Through this initiative, sponsors are able to provide essential care for the specially trained equine companions that are at the heart of TTRCs mission.
TTRC provides therapeutic horsemanship, hippo-therapy, and equine assisted counseling and wellness to both children and adults in the South Plains area. Through Sponsor A Horse, sponsors are able to help the Tech Therapeutic Riding Center continue its mission of providing the highest quality of equine-assisted services to children of all ages, adults, or people with disabilities and special-needs.
"The gentleness, tranquility, and peaceful nature of the horses at TTRC is truly wonderful,” said Zane B., a TTRC volunteer. “Their qualities calm my soul and help me relax when life gets stressful."
With 13 horses currently in the herd, the Sponsor A Horse program will ensure the equine companions will be maintained through optimal health, feedings and supplementation, hoof care, deworming, annual vaccinations, as well as chiropractic and dental care.
"I have served at numerous therapeutic riding centers throughout the years and what made this center stand out to me was the great emphasis placed on horse care and overall well-being,” said Reagan H, TTUHSC Spring '25 Occupational Therapy Capstone Student. “Horses are the heart of TTRC and without them their life-changing services would not be possible.”
In return for the Sponsor A Horse donation, sponsors will receive a framed photo of the horse, and an opportunity to spend one-on-one time where they will participate in a daily care routine, observe the horse during a therapy session, and be featured on the ‘horse wall in the TTRC.
This year, Sponsor A Horse is also supported through the Prime Campaign—a broader effort by Texas Techs Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources.
Along with the Sponsor A Horse program, other upcoming fundraising efforts supporting the TTRC include the Legacy U Event on July 17, along with the Texas Tech Therapeutic Riding Center Open House and Car Show on August 2.
