Mary Moenning, a Texas Tech grad with deep roots in agriculture and a broad portfolio in food and commodity marketing, has been named Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications for the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources, university officials announced. She will begin her role on July 22.
In her new post, Moenning will lead strategic marketing initiatives and oversee communication efforts that span the colleges academic departments, research programs, and outreach missions.
“It's an honor to return to my alma mater and contribute to the Davis College," Moenning said. “Im eager to bring my experience and deep passion for food and agriculture communications to help elevate the college's mission, support its students and faculty and advance the vital work being done across the college and beyond.”
Moenning, a 2019 alumna of Davis College with a degree in agricultural communications and a minor in animal science, returns to her alma mater after building a robust career in agricultural and food public relations and brand marketing.
Most recently, she served as a senior public relations specialist at Curious Plot, a Minneapolis-based agency known for its agricultural and food-sector clientele. There, she led influencer engagement and media public relations strategy for four numerous national clients representing a range of food commodities and branded products.
Before joining Curious Plot, Moenning held dual roles at Hormel Foods in Austin, Minnesota, where she served as both communications manager and quality control supervisor. Her public relations efforts supported prominent household brands including SPAM, SKIPPY, Planters, Corn Nuts, and Hormel Chili, focusing on brand loyalty, consumer engagement, and sales growth.
Beyond her corporate and agency roles, Moenning also operates Two Ten Cattle, a registered Simmental operation based in Hayfield, Minnesota. The venture specializes in raising and marketing show cattle for junior exhibitors, further reflecting on her hands-on knowledge of the livestock industry.
As a student at Texas Tech, Moenning was actively involved in campus life, serving as secretary of Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow and participating in the Block & Bridle Club, Presidents Select, and the universitys nationally recognized Livestock Judging Team.
