Bill G. W. Yee was born in China on June 24,1938. He came to the United States in 1951 and went through grade school, junior high, and high school in Dallas, Texas. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1961 and his MS. in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1963. He received his Ph.D. in Physics in 1967 from the University of Texas at Austin.

After graduation from the University of Texas, Dr. Yee joined General Dynamics Fort Worth Division as a research scientist in the Materials Research Laboratory. From 1974 to 1983, he supervised this research laboratory. He was promoted to Manager of the Advanced Structures and Design Department in 1983 and was responsible for the development of the strategic and operating plans. in 1987 he became Manager of the Materials and Processes Technology department, which has approximately 210 engineers and scientists.

Dr. Yee is a member of the National Academy of Science and Engineering Panel on Export Control of Materials. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Tech Research Foundation. Dr. Yee was a member of the Board of Directors at the Interfirst Bank, South Fort Worth, where he was a member of the Executive Committee. He has been a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for the Electrical Engineering Department of Texas Tech University and has served as a member of the Industrial Advisory Board of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Texas at Arlington.

In addition, Dr. Yee is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Materials and Processes Engineering, the Society of Automotive Engineers, and the American Society for Testing and Materials. He also is a member of Tau Beta Phi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Sigma Pi Sigma.

Dr. Yee and his wife, April, have two children, Phoebe and Yale. The Yees reside in Fort Worth.
