Summer Camps
Raider Robotics Academy
About:
Raider Robotics Academy is a series of summer robotics camps provided by the Whitacre College of Engineering Outreach & Engagement Program. These summer camps provide an opportunity for K-12 students to experience what it means to be on a robotics team and learn about the different robotics programs we provide!
All camps will be hosted at Reese Technology Center in the Advance Vehicle Engineering building and snacks and water will be provided. All camps will include a robot game and presentation day that will allow students to show what they have accomplished throughout the camp. In addition, campers will receive a t-shirt and a certificate for participating!
There will be 24 spots available for each robotics summer camp. The grade levels listed below are based on what grade a student will be in the semester following the camps. For example, a 6th grader that is going to be in 7th grade in the Fall would attend the 7th and 8th grade camp.
These are commuter camps, so parents will need to drop off their student(s) each day. They will also need to have their student(s) bring a sack lunch with them.
All camps will be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day, with a 45 minute lunch break.
Pricing for each camp can be seen below. We are currently working on getting the registration system setup for parents and a link will be sent out once completed.
Raider Robotics Academy: 4th - 6th, May 27th - 31st
Price: $100
For the 4th - 6th edition, students will be put into groups and learn how to design, build, and program robots using the LEGO SPIKE Prime kits. Students will also work on a innovation project where they must design a model that solves a real-world problem.
The camp will end with a series of practice matches using one of our LEGO Robot Games and presentations where the students will show off their robot and innovation project.

Raider Robotics Academy: 7th - 8th, July 8th - 12th
Price: $150
For the 7th - 8th grade edition, students will get to experience what it is like to be on a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team. Students will go through the lessons provided by REV Robotics, including topics related to programming and robot construction. Other team-based activities will be provided throughout the week including documentation and team building skills.
The camp will end off in a scrimmage where students will take their robot creations and "compete" in a actual FIRST Tech Challenge game. Students will also develop their presentation and marketing skills through judging sessions and engineering notebooks.
