Born in Peekskill, New York, Dain M. Hancock graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1964, and earned a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1966.

Mr. Hancock currently serves as the Corporate Vice President of Lockheed Martin and President of the Tactical Aircraft Systems. The Tactical Aircraft Systems located in Fort Worth is a $3 billion company of the Lockheed Martin Corporation. As President of the Tactical Aircraft Systems, he is responsible for domestic and international fighter aircraft programs, including the F–16, the "Joint Strike Fighter," the F–2 program with Japan, the joint IDF program with Taiwan and various other related programs. He also is responsible for relationships with co–producers and suppliers throughout the world, including the overseas production of the F–16 aircraft.

He began his industrial career with General Dynamics Forth Worth Division in 1966, and has held various positions in research and engineering, program management, and marketing. In 1975 he became a project engineer and was responsible for the development of the two–seat F–I6B aircraft. In 1978, he was assigned as the engineering manager for the F–16 Model Improvements and in 1980 he assumed the position of Director of the F–16C/D Program.

In 1985 he was appointed as the Vice President for the F–16 international programs. In 1988, Mr. Hancock served as the Vice President for Program Development of the General Dynamics Fort Worth Division and was responsible for new business and planning related functions for the division.

He currently serves as the Co–Chairman of the North Texas Science and Technology Coalition, is a member of the International Board of Visitors for the Texas Christian University M. J. Neeley School of Business, and is a past member of the Board of Trustees for the Alliance for Higher Education. He is a member of the Tau Beta Pi honorary engineering fraternity, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and in 1997 received the "Good Scout" Award.
