Gary B. Wood received three degrees from Texas Tech: bachelor’s and master’s in electrical engineering in 1973 and 1975 and one of the first interdisciplinary doctorates to be awarded at Tech in 1977. His doctoral work emphasized accounting, law, systems analysis, and statistics. A leader as well as a scholar, he served as president of his social fraternity, SAE, and the engineering honorary, Tau Beta Pi, which at that time was awarded outstanding chapter in the nation.

In 1981, Dr. Wood, a Registered Investment Adviser, founded the Concorde Group of Companies of Dallas where he serves as Chief Executive Officer. The group manages the financial and investment needs of individuals, corporations, and trusts. He continues to lead OmniMed Corporation, a health care and medical technology investment and management firm he founded in 1982. The company provides venture capital to health care and medical technologies companies.

Dr. Wood serves as an officer on many boards of directors for companies in which he and his investors hold substantial interest. These groups include medical products and care companies such as American Plasma, International Hospital Corporation, Positron Corporation, and Genosys Biotechnologies. They also include a company that manufactures molded plastic, Alpha Holdings; a no–load mutual fund, Concorde Value Fund; and a public oil exploration and production firm, Search Exploration.

As a civic leader, Dr. Wood currently chairs the Health Industry Council for the Dallas/Ft. Worth region. He is also a member of the Baylor Research Foundation and an advisory board member of Children’s Oncology Services of Texas, Inc. (the Ronald McDonald House). He is also past president of the Society of International Business Fellows. He is on the board of the American British Cowdray Hospital Foundation of Mexico City and a board member for a prominent Texas think–tank, the Texas Research League.

A proud father, his children are Ashley, Natalie, and Gregory.
