GRADUATE SCHOOL FUNDRAISING PRIORITIES

The Graduate School is the home college for all graduate students in all disciplines at Texas Tech. The Graduate School also is the administrative home for graduate interdisciplinary programs--programs that address significant themes at the intersection of traditional disciplinary boundaries such as biotechnology, land use and water issues, cultural and natural history, and wind science and engineering. Accordingly, the priorities are as follows:

LEADING THE WAY

Graduate education is a centerpiece of advancing Texas Tech into its next century as a preeminent research university. This is because graduate education fuels innovation in all fields of endeavor, from the arts and humanities, to social and behavioral sciences, to science,technology, engineering and mathematics. Graduate education also is essential to meeting the demands for a highly-skilled workforce. Graduate degree holders bring increased value to the workforce through their specialized knowledge and problem-solving ability.

OUTRIGHT GIFTS

Gifts may be cash/checks, securities, investments, or appraised estate. Gifts may have a designated purpose and may be permanently endowed or for current use.

  • Endowed funds – the minimum to establish this permanent fund is $25,000 and may be paid over 5 years – the annual payout for the designated purpose is 4.5% of earnings, the remainder of earnings are added to the corpus, growing the fund in addition to any additional donations.
  • Non-endowed funds – can be designated to a specific purpose or may be given to a discretionary fund to be used for unfunded needs.
  • Annual Giving – your annual gifts support student scholarships, graduate fellowships, research and other academic pursuits across graduate programs within Texas Tech University. Click here to contribute.

DEFERRED GIFTS

Based on financial, tax, and philanthropic objectives, there are many options when choosing a deferred or planned gift type. These gifts may be for unrestricted use by the Graduate School or designated for a specific purpose. Once you have a documented planned or deferred gift to Texas Tech, you will become a member of the Matador Society and will be invited to the annual gala.

  • Designation gifts – name the Texas Tech Graduate School in will, retirement account, annuity, insurance policy or other account.
  • Annuity gifts – this funds TTU today while giving guaranteed income for life.
  • Charitable trusts – support TTU and get tax benefits while continuing to support yourself.
  • Property – real estate, art or other property.
