Jared's determination and innovation to increase the operating time of the recently installed Waterside Economizer led to his development of a “Waterside Economizer wet bulb calculator.” By using this tool, Texas Tech is saving thousands of dollars per year. In addition, every year he has been a Lead, his shift watch team won more Sections of “Plant Efficiency Coefficient of Performance” (COP) awards than other teams. During two major city wide power outages, realizing power was out at his house and prior to being called, he came in to help the plant operators. He worked meticulously all night identifying, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment, then coordinating and expediting the generation of heating and cooling services to campus. This reduced several hours of out-of-parameters services to campus. His efficient operation of the plant leads the department to the extraordinary behind the scenes customer service it maintains. He motivates the department to work together and look out for each other to enhance pride of ownership amongst the entire department.
