The team from Chemistry consisting of:

• Jean Bertonazzi, Scientific Glass Blower
• Scott Hiemstra, Program Manager

Jean Bertonazzi, Scott Hiemstra and Vincent Wilde have worked synergistically for the Chemistry department, the Texas Tech campus, the Health Sciences Center and with external companies across the country to provide a vital resource that has increased novel research, collaborations, and teaching productivity. The teamwork, knowledge, creativity and productivity of this group in their respective fields is unparalleled, not only at Texas Tech, but this type of collaboration is even rare among other top-tier research universities across the country. By producing and repairing research grade equipment in a fiscally responsible manner (saving our department $50,000-$100,000 annually), and a timely manner (days or weeks instead of months), research groups across TTU are able to continue to conduct their highly competitive research on national and international stages. Through the efforts of these individuals, Texas Tech is also able to continue to attract top-level research faculty and students, because they know there will be knowledgeable individuals available to assist them in turning their research ideas into real world experimental setups. This is truly a special group of people and one that has been vital to the success of the scientific research and teaching missions here at Texas Tech University.
