Li Qin is one of the best servant leaders at Texas Tech. To help manage the budgets for fifteen departments in addition to the college specific budgets requires someone who will take the time to listen to department concerns, someone who has the respect of all associated service units at Texas Tech and someone who understands that details matter. Li is this person. She has a reputation on campus that all of the budgets from Arts & Sciences are perfect during budget prep and she spends countless hours reviewing, checking and sometimes rebalancing all budgets to ensure that they indeed are error free. She is proactive and looks at all department budgets monthly to help identify potential problems before they occur, saving the department funds and time. This level of quality assurance helps make the entire budget process for the university move very smoothly each year. Without Li's commitment to a very high standard of professionalism and commitment, the end of May each year would not be pleasant on campus for budget managers. Li fosters an environment of trust that allows for creative problem solving and in helping teach and mentor the next generation of business managers that allows Texas Tech to move forward in teaching, research and service. Li is someone who truly cares about developing future leaders.
