Texas Tech University
Installed near Red Raider Plaza by the Student Union Building and Library, 100 Reflections stands as a striking tribute to Texas Techs century-long legacy. Designed by Minneapolis-based artist Randy Walker, the artwork consists of 100 pillars adorned with 100 polished, reflective Double Ts—each symbolizing a year of Texas Techs history. The pillars, varying in height, represent the universitys growth and progress, ever reaching toward the future.
Operations early involvement was to ensure underground utilities were available and accessible while coordinating site preparations. Operations employees Charles Leatherwood and Don Roulain worked closely with Facilities Planning & Construction and the Alumni Association throughout the process.
After months of planning and bi-weekly progress calls, 100 Reflections was completed and unveiled in October 2024, just in time for Homecoming. Texas Tech President Laurence Schovanec and Centennial Committee Chairman Heath Cheek officially dedicated the piece the morning of the Homecoming game.
Now, Operations continues to maintain the artwork, ensuring its lasting impact.
As Roulain expressed, “Its a nice addition to campus that celebrates the centennial… and will be enjoyed for many years to come.”
