Birgit Green, Ph.D. serves as associate vice provost for Outreach and Engagement, providing oversight and leadership for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, the Museum at Texas Tech University, community partnership initiatives, and engaged scholarship awards and recognition programs.

In her role, she promotes and supports strategies, programs, and initiatives that advance the university’s outreach and engaged scholarship priorities. Previously, Green served as assistant vice provost and director of Outreach and Engagement in the Office of the Provost as well as director of Engaged Research and Partnerships in the Office of the Vice President for Research. From 1998 until 2010, Greenwas the director of Community Outreach and Professional Development at the Division of Outreach and Distance Education, where she oversaw continuing education, personal enrichment, and professional development programs, including conferences, short courses, workshops, certificate programs and non-credit online classes.

Green has led and co-led various state and federally funded projects and initiatives involving mutually beneficial partnerships with two- and four-year institutions, business and industry, K-12 schools, nonprofit organizations and other communities. She has served on executive committees for the Engagement Scholarship Consortium and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities' Commission on Innovation, Competitiveness, and Economic Prosperity.

Green is a current member of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities’ Commission on Economic and Community Engagement. She is also past chair of the University Professional and Continuing Education Association's Community and Economic Engagement Network.

Green holds a doctorate degree in higher education administration, a master's degree in higher education, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech.
