Paul Ruiz, J.D.

Paul Ruiz is a senior director in the Office for Faculty Success and an instructor at Texas Tech University. In his role, he assists with faculty recruitment and hiring processes, as well as the review and revision of university policies that affect faculty. As an instructor, Ruiz teaches a Raider Ready 1100 course to undergraduate students and an externship class at Texas Tech School of Law. Paul also serves as an advisor for the Saddle Tramps, a spirit and service organization on campus.
He has served Texas Tech since January 2010, having worked in the division of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for 13 years. Prior to that, Paul practiced administrative law for 21 years in Austin, Texas, at the Clark, Thomas & Winters law firm, where he chaired the firms hiring and diversity committees.
Ruiz earned a bachelors degree in political science from Texas Tech and a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School. Originally from Big Spring, Texas, Ruiz is a licensed attorney in Texas and a member of the Hispanic Issues Section and the LGBTQ Section of the State Bar of Texas.
