RE: College of Media & Communication Interim Dean Named

I am pleased to share that Rob Stewart has been named interim dean of the College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University, effective today, November 1, 2023.

Stewart currently serves as a professor in the Department of Communication Studies and most recently as senior vice provost of the university.

He previously served as an associate dean in the College of Arts & Sciences and chair of the Department of Communication Studies, and he is a member of the Texas Tech Teaching Academy. His teaching and research interests span interpersonal communication, instructional communication, communication and religion, and public speaking and professional presentations. He is a past president of the Texas Speech Communication Association and co-authored two widely adopted college textbooks, A Speaker's Guide: Text and Reference and A Pocket Guide to Public Speaking.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Lubbock Christian University, his master's degree from Texas Tech and a doctorate from West Virginia University.

I am grateful for Rob's willingness to serve in this role. A search for a permanent dean will begin next year.
