RE: Course Content Compliance

I am sharing this information with you on behalf of the Texas Tech University System:

As you know, the Texas Tech University System (TTU System) has been conducting an ongoing evaluation of course content and instructional materials to ensure compliance with state and federal law, as well as guidance from the Board of Regents' Academic, Clinical, and Student Affairs (ACS) Committee.

Following Chancellor Creighton’s memo shared on Dec. 1, 2025, the five TTU System institutions reviewed their curricula in the Spring 2026 semester and identified courses potentially containing content related to sexual orientation, gender identity, or prohibited advocacy concepts.

Additional Board and TTU System Guidance

Since February, the ACS Committee and TTU System leadership have evaluated syllabi, faculty feedback, and leadership recommendations for these courses. This extensive review has informed additional guidance, outlined in the memo, to ensure system-wide consistency.

Initial Course Review

The ACS Committee has completed its review of the initial 92 courses submitted from Texas Tech, Angelo State University and Midwestern State University. This week, the additional guidance and provisional recommendations were shared with institutional leadership for verification. At Texas Tech, faculty with courses in the review process will receive finalized recommendations beginning next week, following institutional assessment.

Disclosed Courses for Licensure, Certification and Patient Care

Additional courses disclosed in this process that include material required for licensure and certification or are intrinsically linked to life-saving patient care are being analyzed. While currently unchanged, the ACS Committee and TTU System leadership will thoroughly review these courses in the coming weeks to verify these requirements. Any additional guidance and decisions resulting from this process will be discussed with university leadership and shared promptly.

We deeply appreciate the continued patience and the engagement each of you has shown as we navigate this ongoing process.
