Registrar & Graduate School Alignment Changes

March 26, 2026

TO: Faculty & Staff
FROM: Ron Hendrick, Ph.D., Provost & Senior Vice President
Jamie Hansard, Vice President for Enrollment Management

As part of our continued efforts to strengthen how we support students across the university, we have taken several steps to better align key enrollment and academic service functions.

Graduate recruitment and admissions operations — including national and international — will be aligned under Enrollment Management, led by Vice President Jamie Hansard. Several Registrar functions across graduate and undergraduate programs will be aligned under the Office of the Provost, allowing us to serve students more consistently and efficiently.

The Graduate School will continue to serve as the institutional lead for graduate academic governance and degree progression oversight across the university, led by Dean & Vice Provost Mark Sheridan. Through these functions, the Graduate School ensures consistent academic standards, institutional coordination, and quality assurance for graduate education. Admissions decisions remain with the graduate programs.

Academic Administrative Affairs, led by Vice Provost Cindy Akers, now includes the following units: Institutional Effectiveness, Office of the Registrar, and Academic Program Strategy & Innovation.

The following Graduate areas will move to Enrollment Management:
Graduate Recruitment, Admissions & Processing

Registrar areas that will move to Academic Administrative Affairs in the Office of the Provost are:
Registrar, Records Processing, Course and Section Inventory, Athletic Certification, administration of Degree Works.

Official Publications will join the Registrar’s Office.

The following functions will remain with Enrollment Management in a newly formed unit called the Office of Transfer Evaluation & TSI Eligibility:
Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Eligibility and Transfer Evaluation.

Changes are effective April 1, 2026.

These changes are part of ensuring that our structure supports collaboration, clarity of responsibility, and the long-term goals of Texas Tech University.

We value the contributions of our faculty and staff and are committed to supporting our teams.
