Erin Alvarado enters her 15th year as the Pom Squad Coach at Texas Tech University, where she has built one of the nations premier collegiate dance programs through a legacy of championship success, elite performance excellence, and transformative leadership.
Under Erins direction, the Texas Tech Pom Squad has achieved unprecedented national and international recognition. She led the program to its first-ever National Dance Alliance (NDA) Division 1A Jazz National Championship in 2017, launching a dynasty that would redefine Texas Tech Pom on the national stage. Her teams went on to capture consecutive NDA National Championships in Division 1A Jazz in 2017, 2018, and 2021, while also dominating the Division 1A Pom category with national titles in 2018, 2019, and 2021.
Erins impact extends far beyond collegiate competition. In 2022, the Texas Tech Pom Squad proudly represented as the U.S. National Team at the ICU World Championships, earning the title of ICU World Champions and bringing home the Gold Medal in the Jazz Division. Continuing her excellence on the international stage, her team was selected for the 2026 U.S. National Pom Team and helped lead the USA to another historic achievement as the 2026 ICU World Champions in Pom, earning the Gold Medal against the worlds top programs.
Throughout her career, Erins teams have performed on prestigious global stages, including appearances at the Shanghai Tourism Festival and performances alongside the world-renowned Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Her influence has also shaped the next generation of professional dancers and entertainers, with alumni earning coveted positions with elite organizations including the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Houston Texans Cheerleaders, Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions and Norwegian Cruise Lines, among many others.
A graduate of West Virginia University, Erin earned her bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology with a minor in Dance. Her extensive expertise in dance education, performance, and adjudication has made her one of the most respected voices in the industry. She serves as a judge and adjudicator for nationally recognized organizations including NDA, UDA, USASF, IASF, PrimeTime Dance, and Showbiz Talent, and has judged internationally in Japan and Australia.
In addition to coaching, Erin serves as an Adjunct Dance Faculty member at Texas Tech University, where she teaches a wide range of dance-focused courses including Anatomy for Dance, Jazz, and Tap. Her leadership and knowledge have made her a sought-after speaker and educator, leading to invitations to present at conferences hosted by Varsity, NDCA, Crowd Pleasers, and USASF. She has also contributed educational content for CLI Studios, further cementing her influence within the dance industry.
Erins dedication to excellence, innovation, and mentorship has earned widespread recognition, including being named the 2019 National Collegiate Dance Coach of the Year by the National Dance Coaches Association. With a career defined by championship success, international achievement, and a commitment to developing elite performers, Erin Alvarado continues to elevate the standard of collegiate dance both nationally and around the world.
