Leadership

Leadership is an important part of the student organization experience. Student Involvement provides tools and resources to help Red Raiders strengthen their leadership skills, work effectively with others and build successful organizations.

Whether you are a new organization officer, an experienced student leader or a member looking to take on a larger role, these resources can help you develop skills that are useful both at Texas Tech and beyond.

Leadership Development

Strong leadership involves more than holding a position or title. Effective student leaders learn how to communicate, collaborate, motivate others, manage challenges and create an environment where members can contribute to the success of an organization.

Student Involvement offers leadership development resources designed to help students identify their strengths, develop practical skills and become more confident leaders.

Leadership Skills

Students may use Student Involvement resources to develop skills in areas including:

  • Effective communication
  • Team building and collaboration
  • Conflict resolution
  • Member motivation and engagement
  • Goal setting and organizational planning
  • Understanding leadership styles
  • Developing an organization's purpose and direction

Leading a Student Organization

Student organization leaders are responsible for helping their organizations remain active, organized and prepared for leadership transitions. Officers should understand their responsibilities, communicate regularly with members and advisors and maintain the information future leaders will need.

Student Involvement provides resources for organization leaders covering topics such as officer responsibilities, organization planning, constitutions and bylaws, meetings, member engagement and leadership transitions.
