Directors' Workshop

Friday, October 9 - Saturday, October 10, 2026

 

Texas Tech UIL is hosting a One-Act Play Director's Workshop for directors around the state of Texas. The seminar will serve as one-stop shop for everything needed to be successful in One-Act Play competitions. Both beginner and experienced directors will be able to learn from a sereis of panelists with nearly 30 state appearances between them.

Workshop Cost: Full Workshop $70 | Attending only Friday or Saturday $40

Topics & Credits

Attendees will receive 13 hours of GT/PD credit for attending the full workshop. Those who want to attend only Friday will be granted seven hours of credit and directors who attend Saturday will receive six hours of credit.

• One-Act Play Competition Rules
• Considerations for Selecting Plays
• Presenting Different Period Styles
• Directing Styles
• Directing with the Eyes of a Judge
• Vocal Warmups and Games
• Building a Middle School Program
