Pom Squad
The Texas Tech Pom Squad represents the university through game-day performances, national competition and appearances throughout the Texas Tech and Lubbock communities. Members combine collegiate dance at a high level with the responsibility of serving as ambassadors for Texas Tech.
About Texas Tech Pom
Texas Tech Pom is a highly competitive collegiate dance program within the Texas Tech Spirit Program. Squad members represent the university at athletic events, competitions, campus programs and community appearances throughout the year.
Members are selected for their technical ability, performance quality, work ethic and ability to represent Texas Tech. The program requires dancers to balance academics with practices, performances, training, travel and other Spirit Program responsibilities.
Game Day & Performances
Pom Squad members are a visible part of the Red Raider game-day experience. The squad performs at Texas Tech athletic events and supports the university alongside Cheer, Raider Red and the Masked Rider.
Performance responsibilities may include:
- Texas Tech football games
- Men's and women's basketball games
- Other selected athletic events
- Pep rallies and university celebrations
- Campus and community appearances
- Alumni and special events
Members may also represent the Spirit Program at events throughout Lubbock and beyond as schedules allow.
Competition
National competition is an important part of the Texas Tech Pom program. Squad members train throughout the year to represent Texas Tech on the collegiate dance stage.
Competition preparation is incorporated into the team's regular training schedule and requires a significant commitment from members. Practices focus on technical development, performance quality, choreography, strength and conditioning and preparation for the demands of collegiate competition.
Program Commitment
Being a member of Texas Tech Pom is a year-round commitment. Members are expected to maintain high standards academically and athletically while meeting the responsibilities of the Spirit Program.

- University and community appearances
- Spirit Program meetings and activities
- Required summer practices and training
- Travel associated with performances and competition
Academic responsibilities remain a priority, and members are expected to manage their schedules so they can meet both university and program expectations.

Join Texas Tech Pom
Texas Tech Pom uses a recruiting-based selection process. Prospective members are encouraged to begin connecting with the program before their senior year of high school, attend clinics and recruiting opportunities and submit required materials during the appropriate recruitment cycle.
2027-28 Recruitment
Class of 2027 high school graduates and transfer students must submit required recruiting videos by Sept. 1, 2026. Texas Tech participates in the Common College Dance Team Recruitment Video process and accepts submissions at the early Sept. 1 deadline for this recruiting cycle.
- By Sept. 1, 2026: Class of 2027 high school graduates and transfer students submit required recruitment materials and videos.
- Sept. 1, 2026-January 2027: Coaching staff evaluation period.
- Nov. 1, 2026-end of January 2027: Coaching staff may extend offers for positions on the Texas Tech Pom Squad.
- Sept. 1, 2027: Recruiting video deadline for 2028 high school graduates and transfer students.

Pom Clinics
Texas Tech Pom offers clinics and training opportunities for prospective collegiate dancers. Clinics give participants an opportunity to work with Texas Tech coaches and squad members, experience the program's training environment and develop skills used at the collegiate level.
Fall 2026 Training Clinics
Fall training clinics are scheduled for Oct. 18 and Nov. 1, 2026. These advanced clinics are intended for high school dancers, particularly students in the classes of 2027, 2028 and 2029.
- Time: 8:30 a.m.-noon
- Registration: Begins at 8 a.m.
- Cost: $110 per participant
- Eligibility: Grades 9-12 and older during the 2026-27 academic year
- Level: Advanced
Spectators are not permitted because of space limitations.
