Thomas Brecheisen

Thomas Brecheisen is Professor of Practice in the Creative Media Industries program with an emphasis in Emerging Technologies. He teaches CMI 3340 – Commercial Practice in Creative Media Industries, where he empowers students to become visionary media entrepreneurs through hands-on market research, audience analysis, and iterative venture development using the Business Model Canvas and Lean LaunchPad frameworks. With an entrepreneurial mindset, Thomas designs curricula that bridge theory and practice. His 16-week Startup Studio in the Commercial Practice course guides cohorts through MVP storyboarding, real-world testing, and evidence-based pivots—culminating in polished pitch decks and partnerships with the TTU Innovation Hub and community. He collaborates closely with the Colleges of Visual and Performing Arts, Music, and Business to foster cross-disciplinary teams and secure industry mentorships, ensuring student ideas gain traction beyond the classroom. Outside of this class, Thomas further engages in startup initiatives through his integration of Emerging Technologies, such as AI, AR/VR, and custom hardware prototyping. In his research group, TechKnowledgy, he mentors students in developing projects like DIY timecode slates, interactive Arduino nameplates, and AI-driven feedback systems. By weaving cutting-edge tools into creative media pedagogy, he prepares graduates to innovate at the intersection of technology and storytelling.
