Merritt M. Brockman is currently an Assistant Professor and the Co-Program Director for the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She is a career healthcare administrator and has served in a variety of healthcare leadership positions in the military, private sector, and academia. Her career began two decades ago upon graduating from the United States Air Force Academy. She was competitively selected and immediately accessed into the Medical Service Corps where she held a variety of leadership positions within the military. Merritt is a decorated Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service during combat operations.

Merritt transitioned to the Air Force Reserve after almost 12 years of active-duty service and is currently a Colonel and the Commander of a 135-member Aeromedical Evacuation squadron in New Jersey. In addition to her part-time military role and full-time professorship, she is also an active member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and just completed her tenure as the elected Academic Relations Committee Co-Chair. She has been a board-certified Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives since 2015.

Merritt earned a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from the University of Washington and a Doctorate in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina. She earned a certificate in Medical Billing and Coding in 2019 and her Lean Six Sigma Black Belt in 2022.
