Mental Health Virtual Visits

Getting Started:

Download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app either on your computer (https://zoom.us/download) or your mobile device (Apple | Android), which ever you plan on using for your virtual visits.

Instructions for your FIRST Virtual Mental Health Appointment:

At least 24-hours before your scheduled appointment, please do the following tasks:

All NEW virtual mental health patients will need to sign and return the "Telemedicine Informed Consent Document", "Virtual Counseling Consent Form", and "Mental Health Screener".

ALL THREE DOCUMENTS MUST BE FILLED OUT. THE TWO CONSENTS NEED TO BE EMAILED TO STUDENT HEALTH. THE SCREENER WILL BE REVIEWED WITH YOU BY YOUR PROVIDER ON THE VIRTUAL VISIT. 

All NEW virtual counseling patients will need to also complete one of the following forms based on the provider you are scheduled to see:

NEW virtual counseling patients seeing Esther Schwartz, PhD will need to also sign "Informed Consent - Schwartz". 

NEW virtual counseling patients seeing David Trotter, PhD will need to also sign "Informed Consent - Trotter".

NEW virtual counseling patients seeing Misty Ramon, LPC will need to also sign "Informed Consent - Ramon".

Forms must be printed, signed, scanning (or picture from phone), and emailed to studenthealthservices@ttuhsc.edu at least 24 hours before your appointment. 

Instructions for your INITIAL Virtual Mental Health Appointment:
At least 24-hours before your scheduled appointment, please do the following tasks:

Complete, sign, and return the attached "Initial Mental Health Consent" and the "Mental Health Screener" to studenthealthservices@ttuhsc.edu.

Instructions for your FOLLOW-UP Virtual Mental Health Appointment:
At least 24-hours before your scheduled appointment, please do the following tasks:

Complete, sign, and return the attached "Mental Health Screener" to studenthealthservices@ttuhsc.edu

TEN MINUTES prior to your scheduled appointment, do the following:

  1. Make sure that you have your phone with you. A Student Health Patient Services Specialist will call you a few minutes before your scheduled appointment to arrive you for your virtual visit. 
  2. Around the time of your appointment will receive an email with a subject line that reads "Please join Zoom meeting in progress." Open this email, click on the included link, and follow the onscreen instructions.
    1. If you did not receive the email, check your "spam" or "trash" folders often to make sure the email was not filtered out by your security settings.
  3. If prompted, let the Zoom app launch
  4. If prompted, allow the Zoom app to have access to your camera/video and microphone/audio
  5. When prompted, click the button that says "Call using Internet Audio"
  6. When this is all done, you will automatically be placed in a virtual waiting room.
  7. Your provider will be with your shortly.
  8. If you are not able to connect through Zoom, your provider will call your cell to help you troubleshoot.

NOTE: We will do our best to contact you at your scheduled appointment time. However, as this is a new technology there will likely be some technical issues. Also, due to unforeseen circumstances we can run a bit behind schedule. We ask that you be patient with us. If you have not received an email or phone call from us within 30 minutes of your schedule appointment, please call the clinic at 806-743-2848.
