Lindsay Williams, M.S.
Program Coordinator, College Readiness - Texas Success Initiative
“We need not wait to see what others do.” — Mahatma Gandhi
I am a Program Coordinator for College Readiness, Texas Success Initiative. I moved
to Lubbock, TX in 2014 to complete my Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources Management
with a minor in Political Science. Afterwards, I decided to stay at TTU and pursue
my Master's of Science in Plant and Soil Science with a minor in Biotechnology. I
am also graduating with a second Master's degree this Fall 2024 in Biology.
During my time at Texas Tech, I have also had the privilege to serve as a tutor with Student Disability Services and the TECHniques Center. I have also been a Teaching Assistant for BIOL 2202 (and served several semesters as a Research/Herbarium Assistant) with the Department of Biological Sciences, and an Academic Advisor for the Department of Natural Resources Management - all at the best university in Texas! I have a true passion for helping students access the resources available to them at Texas Tech (and beyond), and I believe that learning does not stop in the classroom.
When I am not working, I enjoy collecting plants (and documenting them on iNaturalist), anything artistic, reading and playing with my two cats and swimming.
Ask Me About:
My First Publication
M. Slimp, L.D. Williams, H. Hale, and M.G. Johnson. On the potential of Angiosperms353 for population genomics. 2021. Applications in Plant Sciences doi:10.1002/aps3.11419
Fun Fact: Madeline Slimp the first author was an undergraduate student at TTU when we published this article! Our statistical graph (gene recovery heat map) also made the front cover of the Angiosperms353 special topic publication!
My Favorite Color
Pink, always! Purple is a good second best.
My Secret Talent
I can speak in a really low voice and won an acting award in high school for doing improv. I have also won art awards in charcoal and chalk categories and had art featured in the Fort Worth Stock Show in 2011.
How Many Countries I've Visited
I have been to the U.S. (I have been to six states - NM, UT, WA, MN, TX and GA) and Malaysia. I went to Malaysia on an Undergraduate Research Experience with TTU to study sustainability during the senior year of my Undergraduate career. I would love to travel around the world!
