About Me

Chad L. Cross is Professor of One Health at Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine. He was originally from a small agricultural community in the Midwest where he participated in 4H and worked on local farms. He attended Purdue University (BS in Biology and BS in Wildlife Science); University of Nevada, Las Vegas (MS in Counseling); University of Florida (MS in Entomology and Nematology); and Old Dominion University (MS in Mathematics and Statistics and PhD in Ecological Sciences). Prior to coming to SVM, he was affiliated with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Public Health for over two decades and also spent a decade in federal service with the USEPA and VHA.

Instruction

His instruction includes medical & veterinary parasitology, medical & veterinary entomology, clinical and applied epidemiology, biostatistics and quantitative methods all in the context of One Health

Research

His research agenda spans the areas of quantitative ecology, applied biostatistics and epidemiology, medical and veterinary entomology, disease ecology, zoonotic diseases, and the ecology and epidemiology of parasites and vector-borne diseases.

Service

He is affiliated with numerous learned societies, having served in various capacities as a member and officer. He spent many years as a Special Government Employee with the USEPA Human Studies Review Board. He also provided service (2022-2028) with the International Society for Infectious Diseases as an elected council member representing the Americas.
