Our Research
Research is at the heart of every great educational program. It improves our practice of veterinary medicine through discovery and innovation of new techniques, drugs, vaccines, and approaches to animal care. It also informs how we teach.
Our school is actively forming research centers of excellence to advance sustainable livestock systems, equine health, and comparative medicine. Comparative medicine seeks to understand the similarities and differences of disease in animals and humans. Discoveries from comparative medicine research benefits the lives of animals and mankind.
We have over fifteen state-of-the-art research laboratories dedicated to several areas of research. We also have over 20 faculty and over 35 graduate students tackling today's challenges using a One Health approach which is the intersection of animals, humans and ecosystem health.
We also have cutting-edge technology that allows us to perform research at our best. To learn more about our research equipment click here.
Below we have five areas of research emphasis. Each one takes a unique perspective with a One Health approach.
Five Areas of Research Excellence
- One Health
- Andragogical Scholarship
- Disease Ecology, Management and Prevention
- Sustainability of Animal Agriculture
- Molecular Mechanisms of Disease
