Emily R. Snyder, DVM, MFAM, PhD

About Me

Originally from eastern Iowa, Dr. Snyder became interested in food animal production through my involvement in FFA and collegiate competitive livestock judging. She completed her B.Sc. in Animal Science in 2007 and DVM in 2011, both from Iowa State University. After graduation she practiced in Iowa and Illinois. In 2015 she returned to academia to pursue degrees at the University of Georgia, earning a Master of Food Animal Medicine (MFAM) in 2016, and a PhD in 2020. She began her career in academia at the University of Saskatchewan Western College of Veterinary Medicine, and started at the Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine in 2026.

Instruction

Dr. Snyder’s teaching focuses on beef cattle health and production.

Research

Her research focuses on bovine respiratory disease, antimicrobial resistance, and contagious spread of bovine respiratory pathogens. She additionally is conducting research on AIP and collaborates on projects concerning mineral and nutrient deficiencies.

Emily is a member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and the Academy of Veterinary Consultants.
