About Me

John Dascanio is the Senior Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and a Professor of Theriogenology at Texas Tech University. He is a diplomate of the American College of Theriogenology and the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Equine Specialty. He grew up in Northwest Pennsylvania and attended veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. He then completed an internship and residency program at Cornell University where he met his wife, Linda. His career has focused mostly on equine reproduction and he has held a number of faculty positions at veterinary schools in and out of the United States. He moved to the Panhandle in the fall of 2019 to help build the School of Veterinary Medicine with his wife, Linda, a small animal veterinary technician from a dairy farm background in Central New York.

Instruction

His teaching focuses on all aspects of domestic animal reproduction.

Research

His research portfolio includes the creation and validation of clinical skills models, the investigation of clinically based reproductive issues, and the use of new technologies in education. He's co-editor of the text Equine Reproductive Procedures.

Service

He is the past President for the American College of Theriogenologists and a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American College of Theriogenologists, the Society of Theriogenology, The Texas Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. He is a board member for the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation.
