About Me

Michelle was born and raised outside of Rochester, New York where she enjoyed spending her free time helping on her grandparents’ crop farm, riding horses, and playing sports. After completing her veterinary degree at Western University of Health Sciences in 2017, she practiced in southern California for 4 years. During this time she owned and operated an ambulatory livestock practice while also serving as a small animal general practitioner and ER practitioner. In 2021, she moved to Ames, Iowa to pursue a Ph.D. in Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine and a residency in Clinical Pharmacology from Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

Instruction

Michelle’s focus is on aspects of ruminant production medicine and pharmacology. She has a special interest in milk quality, judicious antimicrobial use, antimicrobial resistance, and producer education.

Research

All things milk quality including efficacy and behavior of internal teat sealants in dairy cattle and antimicrobial treatment of subclinical mastitis in dairy goats.

Service

Michelle is currently a member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners, the National Mastitis Council, American Dairy Science Association, Dairy Sheep Association of North America, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
