About Me

Dr. Trista Mills is an Assistant Professor of General Practice at Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine. Mills grew up in Indiana working as a general hand/rider for local horse farms. At 18 she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she continued to work with horses as a veterinary assistant at Arizona Equine, a surgical and medical center for horses. After completing a degree in conservation biology, Mills was accepted to veterinary school at Kansas State University. While there, she also completed a Master’s in Business putting emphasis on human resources and organizational behavior. Following graduation, Mills became an associate at Carlsbad Animal Clinic in Carlsbad, New Mexico providing rural veterinary medical care to the areas dogs, cats, and exotic animals (reptiles, avian, and pocket pets).

Instruction

Mills teaches in all four years of the curriculum with a focus on clinical reasoning and companion and exotic animals. Mills co-leads the clinical rotation Community Practice.
