School of Veterinary Medicine Policy Document 10.70: Operations Committee
GOVERNING TTU OP: Not applicable.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) policy document is to define the role and membership of the SVM Operations Committee.

REVIEW: This SVM Policy shall be reviewed every third year by the SVM Operations Committee. Revisions will be forwarded to the Deans Executive Leadership Council for review and disposition.
POLICY/PROCEDURE
BACKGROUND: The primary role of this committee is to meet and address the operational, facility and safety needs of the SVM. The Operations Committee makes recommendations to the Senior Director of Operations.
ROLES OF THE COMMITTEE: The roles of the Operations Committee are to:
- Review and develop, when needed, policies pertaining to the daily operations of the SVM.
- Discus and evaluate any facility needs or any proposed construction/renovation projects.
- Review and discuss, at least annually, any changes to established safety programs.
ACTIVITIES OF THE COMMITTEE: This Committee will perform its work relative to the mission of the SVM. Activities may include:
- Review of any major proposed facility construction or renovation projects.
- Review and aid in the implementation of all safety programs coordinated by the TTU Office of Emergency Management and the TTU Environmental and Safety office.
- Evaluation of any major technology needs to enhance the delivery of curriculum.
- Address issues revolving around the daily operations of the SVM.
REPORTING: The Operations Committee reports to the Senior Director of Operations. Recommendations from the committee will be reviewed by the Deans Executive Leadership Council.
COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP: This committee will be made up of 10 members. Each committee member will be appointed by the Senior Director of Operations.

- West Wing Unit Manager
- Mariposa Station Unit Manager
- Clinical and Professional Skills Supervisor
- 1 faculty member representing Clinical and Professional Skills
- 1 faculty member representing Research
- 1 member of the SVM IT team
- 1 member representing TTU Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
LEADERSHIP AND TERM LIMITS: This is a standing committee. New members will be appointed as the need arises. The Senior Director of Operations serves as the Chair of the Committee.
QUORUM: A quorum, which will consist of a simple majority of the Committee, will be required for all meetings in which issues are to be brought to a vote. The Chair will vote only in the case of a tie.
MEETING FREQUENCY AND AGENDA: The Operations Committee will meet biannually or more frequent as the need arises.
