Veteran Educator Bullard Joins Davis College in Key Student Support Role

Texas Tech’s Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources has appointed Madonna Bullard, a veteran educator and agriculture instructor, as its new Student Success Specialist, the college announced this month.

Bullard, who began her role on Tuesday (Oct. 7), will be based in the Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center, where she will work closely with the Davis College Dean’s Office to strengthen student engagement, retention, and achievement across the college’s seven academic departments.

Her position is designed to complement academic advising by helping students access university resources that foster academic, professional and personal growth.

“I’m excited to join Davis College and support students in reaching their full potential,” Bullard said. “As a Davis alum, my goal is to be a source of encouragement, showing students that no matter what, success is possible with the right support.”

Before returning to Davis College, Bullard served as a Student Success Specialist in Texas Tech’s College of Arts & Sciences. Earlier in her career, she taught agricultural sciences and served as an FFA advisor at Christoval High School in Christoval, Texas.

A native Texan with deep ties to agricultural education, Bullard earned her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary agriculture from Texas Tech and a master’s degree in agriculture from Angelo State. Her professional honors include being named Christoval High School’s Teacher of the Year in 2022 and receiving Angelo State University’s Outstanding Master of Agriculture Graduate Student Award that same year.

The Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center, under the leadership of Associate Dean for Academic & Student Programs Robert Cox, hosts a team of professionals dedicated to student success, including:

  • Maeley Stroupe(2022) Associate Director for Student Success & Retention: Stroupe oversees academic advising policies and ensures curriculum compliance. She holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in agricultural communications from Texas Tech.
  • Sandra Addo(2020) Assistant Director for Recruitment & Career Development: Addo brings experience as a former admissions counselor. She earned her bachelor’s in business administration and marketing, and two master’s degrees from Texas Tech: Strategic Communication & Innovation and Higher Education.
  • Haley Hudson(2022) Program Manager for Academic Student Programs: Hudson develops academic advising strategies and ensures adherence to curriculum standards. She holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural and applied economics from Texas Tech.
  • Madi Nall(2021) Administrative Coordinator: Nall serves as advisor to the college’s Ag Council, which consists of active Davis College of clubs, organizations and competitive teams. She earned her bachelor’s in agricultural communications from Texas Tech.
  • Brittyn LeCompte(2025) Program Manager – College Recruiter: A recent graduate and animal science alumna, LeCompte’s responsibilities include supporting established recruitment, engagement, and retention objectives, analyzing recruiting data to refine plans.

The Student Success Center is named after Bill Bennett, a revered Texas Tech faculty member in the Department of Plant & Soil Science. Joining the university in 1968, Bennett was instrumental in fundraising for scholarships and establishing initiatives like Ambassadors for Agriculture and Agri-Techsans, aimed at boosting student recruitment and engagement.
