Davis College faculty, staff, and students demonstrate a responsibility to reach out to local, state, national, and international communities and contribute to the public good. We connect the interests of Texas Tech with the needs of the communities we serve through partnerships that seek to solve societal problems and grow the next generation of leaders.
Davis College faculty, staff, and students apply their knowledge beyond the campus through field days, workshops, camps, fairs, tours, speaking engagements, and media interviews. We collaborate with area schools, community groups, and agricultural organizations.
Davis College works with partners on solutions through teaching and research. Community engaged teaching courses and collaborative research opportunities create employment pipelines for students. When we partner with community organizations, our students take on leadership roles that address community needs and advocate for the industries we serve.
We create new knowledge. Through collaborations with community partners, we make discoveries that impact the broader community.
Davis College outreach and engagement programs have a positive social, economic, and environmental impact through increased public awareness and action on key strategic priorities. We foster engaged scholarship and teaching, learn from those with whom we engage, and promote a culture of public service to West Texas and beyond.

As faculty members, we are encouraged to participate in outreach and engagement activities, but we often don’t receive training to do so. This series of modules is designed to help you get started by providing practical strategies, frameworks, and examples.
You’ll learn how to design impactful programs, build sustainable partnerships, and integrate outreach into your teaching and research in ways that benefit both the university and the communities we serve.
The Engaged Scholars Program is a group of tenure and non-tenure track faculty, staff, post-docs, and doctoral students. They bring a shared commitment to advancing community-engaged teaching, research, and outreach. Through a year-long series of hands-on workshops, they work to strengthen connections between the university and the communities we serve.
