I earned a BA in Economics with a minor in Spanish from Texas Tech in December 2015.
During my college career, I was hired as a temporary worker to image old files at
an insurance company which turned into a 3 year internship. Every time my classes
were out I would be in the office to work for them. Upon learning that I was minoring
in Spanish, I was given the new responsibility to field the Spanish calls and to direct
them to the correct department. As a result, a new position in the company was created
for me after I graduated.
I am working as an underwriter for the company and assisting with the Spanish side
of the company. Having a minor in Spanish not only helps me communicate with others
around me, it helped me get a job in a company that normally does not hire graduates
right out of college.
