French Scholarships

The following scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate students of French at TTU:

Beatrice Alexander Fellowship

This fellowship is awarded annually to one outstanding graduate student enrolled in the French M.A. program. Academic excellence, pedagogical achievement, and contributions to departmental life may all be taken into account in the selection of the Beatrice Alexander Fellow.

Beatrice Alexander Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding undergraduate students of French at Texas Tech. Academic excellence and contributions to departmental life will be taken into account in the selection of Beatrice Alexander Scholars.

Christine de Pizan Scholarship

This scholarship, named for Christine de Pizan (c. 1364-c. 1431), the first professional French woman writer, is awarded to outstanding undergraduate French majors and graduate students enrolled in the French M.A. program. Recipients should have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Award amounts vary.

Beatrice W. Alexander French Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to undergraduate French majors and graduate students enrolled in the French M.A. program in recognition of outstanding achievement in the study of French, as evidenced by academic achievement and contributions to departmental life. Recipients should have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Award amounts vary.

Wendell E. McClendon French Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate French majors and graduate students enrolled in the French M.A. program, preferably from small towns, who demonstrate commitment to graduating from the French program at Texas Tech. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of both scholastic achievement and financial need. Award amounts vary.

Laine Price Gen French Scholarship

This scholarship supports the study of French at TTU and study abroad in Francophone countries by TTU students, with preference given to French majors and first-generation college students.

CMLL Study Abroad Scholarship

This scholarship supports study abroad by CMLL majors and minors with awards ranging from $1000 to $5000. Preference is given to students demonstrating financial need and those participating in TTU faculty-led programs. Students must have applied to a study abroad program in order to be considered for an award. Eligible students must apply for the CMLL Study Abroad Scholarship separately from other French-specific scholarships using the link provided here.

Applications are currently being accepted for scholarship awards to be made for Spring 2024, Summer 2024, and AY 2024-2025. Applications for this cycle are due by February 1, 2024.
