Brandon Maddox
Lead Utility Operator
Operations

While conducting maintenance in the plant, Brandon Maddox observed an opportunity for increased efficiency in plant operations. He provided the plant operators a coaching session that increased their knowledge. After the operators adjusted plant equipment, improved reliability and efficiency of plant operations was immediately noticed. Through his troubleshooting, he assisted in getting the plant operating within specifications, returning the vital products of steam and chilled water to the University Medical Center and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Brandon instills teamwork and conveys to co-workers the importance of completing repairs promptly. He was a key member of the team replacing large valves and meters in the tunnel to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at POD's “A” and “D.” This involved initial troubleshooting that identified the malfunctioning of valves and meters. After replacing and calibrating the valves and meters, the system became more efficient thus reducing costs. He put in extra effort to re-organize the parts storage and instrumentation office area, reducing waste and ensuring necessary equipment was readily available when needed. Brandon's keen eye for detail has contributed to helping save time and money for the University.
