For a number of months, Jacy effectively filled in as an interim director--interfacing directly with the Office of the Provost to ensure that core operations were maintained during a time of significant transition. Despite taking on an abundance of additional work during this time--for no additional pay--she maintained a positive attitude and high work standard. During this transition period, she stepped into a leadership void on a number of campus-level committees and ensured that the department was effectively represented, and partnerships were strengthened. These strong relationships and enthusiastic partners have been integrated to become a vital component to the department's success. In addition, Jacy motivates students through her own portfolio of student-directed, engagement programming. She recruits the student participants, trains them, joins them in their work, and facilitates evaluation of the program in order to make improvements for the next iteration. When she is working with students, she is dynamic, creative, and authentic. She establishes relationships with students that truly impact the trajectory of the rest of their time at Texas Tech. She recently assisted faculty in successfully developing a funded grant proposal to extend her programming to support cohorts of strategically recruited Hispanic students. The faculty leaned on HER expertise as they developed their grant proposal, and we are so excited to be launching the initiative this Fall! Truly Jacy's efforts are making a significant impact at Texas Tech.
