Distinguished Staff Awards 2020: Kelley Coleman - Office of International AffairsKelley Coleman
Director
Office of International Affairs

Kelley has worn many hats since joining the Office of International Affairs team in 2012. She is a committed team-member, a motivational and thoughtful leader, and in her most recent role- an innovative and efficient manager in international recruiting and admissions. She is known for her capacity to build and lead dedicated teams. Kelley has a strong work ethic and is always willing to go beyond her normal duties to get the job done. The best evidence of this commitment has been steady growth in our K-12 GEO program, increases in our international student population, and her contributions in submitting the Paul Simon applications, which resulted in TTU receiving the 2016 Paul Simon Spotlight Award for the K-12 GEO division and the Paul Simon Internationalization Award for the university in 2018. Under Kelley's leadership, the team has honed their marketing skills to reach prospects. In addition, the international team has worked hard to train Undergraduate Admissions and utilizes their help in reaching more students across the state of Texas and nation. These efforts have paid off as we are starting to see an increase in our resident student applicants this fall. In a time when international student numbers across the nation and world have continued to decline, Texas Tech has been able to maintain its international student population. In fact, the team has demonstrated progress in consistently increasing international undergraduate enrollment over the past 5 years- setting a record high for Fall 2019 with a 5.8 % increase from Fall of 2018. Kelley's efforts are significantly impacting the lives of our international students.
