Rachel Jarnagin has a very strong work ethic and is always willing to go above and beyond her normal duties to get the job done.  She seeks out colleagues' thoughts and experience before proceeding in order to ensure that any changes will be an improvement and more effective.  For instance, she initiated new hiring processes within in the office to ensure compliance with University guidelines and increased awareness of required or unrealized tasks.  She has also developed a new onboarding process so that new hires within the office are warmly and effectively introduced and integrated into the office and the greater Texas Tech community. Her commitment to the University was particularly notable and critical during the pandemic of 2020.  She oversaw refunds for cancelled study abroad programs, the transfer and documentation of office equipment needed by staff to work from outside of their normal offices, she measured spaces, created and set up traffic control signage; and she developed a contactless texting system for the students, faculty and staff of TTU and the greater Lubbock community to ensure they could use the services of the passport office. She worked diligently and tirelessly to ensure the safety and availability of TTU for all.
