University Student Housing

The team from University Student Housing consisting of:

• Tamara McClain, Unit Assistant Director
• Cherisse Smith, Senior Advisor
• Julia Wagner, Advisor

This is group of professionals became the TTU COVID Housing Team. They worked with students, parents, numerous departments on campus and Lubbock resources, as well. I can't say enough about this team of individuals. They worked tirelessly with some additional support all through the Labor Day weekend and holiday to assign over 125 COVID positive students. The task of immediately creating protocols and systems to help our students cope with a COVID diagnosis was monumental and yet, they completed this process and helped a great number of COVID positive students and other students manage the pandemic. They provided a huge service for this university and extended exceptional customer service to the university and Lubbock community. This team provided help and assistance to get students settled into off-campus housing assignments during their isolation time. They worked with Hospitality Services get food to the students who were isolating and quarantining. They provided goodie bags and took phone calls from scared and sometimes frustrated students and parents. This team represented Texas Tech in the most professional, caring, and compassionate manner possible during something unprecedented. I know many teams across the university did amazing work during the pandemic, but I truly believe this group provided an invaluable service.
