Latricia successfully co-chaired the First Gen Student Summit with 300 participants from the Lubbock Independent School District and Texas Tech. When Latricia was appointed interim Director of TRIO Student Support Services, she quickly planned three cultural events and graduation programs to keep students engaged. She also created a recruitment plan to add 25 more students to Student Support Services and she has been working with our tutors to better manage their time and communicate with the students they serve. This year, Latricia expanded the Explorers program to introduce students to additional resources and to help them understand the graduate school process more clearly. She met with each of the Junior Scholars in one-on-one meetings and organized the Junior Scholars programming with multiple campus partners, such as the University Career Center, the Library, the Writing Centers, and the Graduate School. Latricia has shown that she is willing to go the extra mile whenever needed. She is the first to arrive and the last to leave for our events. She puts in late nights after McNair Seminars meetings to assist students needing extra help. Students and fellow staff alike know they can rely on her.
