| Position Description |
The Instructional Technologist II supports the integration of instructional technologies to enhance teaching and learning. This role collaborates with faculty, instructional designers and staff to conceptualize, develop, implement and support technology-enhanced courses and materials (in-person, blended and online). The individual works with moderate to high independence, may lead small projects, and serves as a subject-matter expert within the instructional technology domain. |
| Essential Job Functions |
Provide timely technical support and customer service to faculty, staff, and students regarding the Learning Management System (LMS) and associated educational technologies. Monitor the departmental support ticketing system, document all interactions, and ensure issues are resolved or escalated according to service level agreements (SLAs). Maintain a customer-centric approach to troubleshooting. Focuses on complex troubleshooting requiring deep investigation (e.g., gradebook logic errors, LTI integration failures) and provides consultative support for course design questions. Consult with instructors/faculty to analyze instructional needs and recommend effective technology solutions (e.g., LMS tools). Design, develop and deploy instructional materials and learning objects (e.g., multimedia assets, video tutorials, training materials). Provide training, workshops and support to faculty and staff. Configure, test, deploy and maintain learning technologies (LMS platforms, media tools) and coordinate with IT or vendors as needed. Evaluate instructional materials and course designs for effectiveness, accessibility (e.g., ADA/WCAG), user experience, and alignment with pedagogical goals. Document processes, create user guides or training materials, and manage knowledge resources (internal knowledge-base). |
| Qualifications |
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience). At least 2-5 years of relevant experience in instructional technology, educational technology or instructional design. Working knowledge of instructional design methodologies, learning management systems (LMS), multimedia production, and educational technology best practices. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff and technical teams. Strong organizational and project-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications : Master's degree in a relevant field. Experience with multimedia tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, video editing). Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), ADA compliance, universal design for learning (UDL). Experience in a higher education setting or with faculty development/training. Ability to analyze data and generate reports related to instructional technology usage and outcomes. |

Accessibility & Inclusivity: Ensures instructional materials and technologies are accessible and inclusive for all learners. Working Conditions: May require occasional evening or weekend support depending on project deadlines or training schedules. Some travel may be required for trainings or workshops. Works collaboratively with academic, IT, media production and other departments; must be flexible and responsive to changing technology and pedagogical needs. |
