Alex Trindade, Ph.D. Professor

A. Alexandre Trindade earned a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Southampton (U.K.) in 1988. He left Europe shortly thereafter to pursue graduate studies in the U.S., completing an M.A. in Mathematics at the University of Oklahoma in 1992. He worked as a programmer for the IBM Corporation in Dallas (Texas) for two years before returning to graduate school, receiving a Ph.D. in Statistics from Colorado State University in 2000. In 2000-2007, Dr. Trindade was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Florida. He joined Texas Tech's Department of Mathematics and Statistics in Fall 2007. His main research interests include: time series; risk and volatility modeling; state-space models and longitudinal data; saddlepoint-based bootstrap methodology and applications; nonparametric and semiparametric statistics; asymptotic theory and higher-order approximations; high-dimensional inference.
