The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for four full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning September 1, 2027.

We are seeking colleagues with strong research programs and a commitment to excellent teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Faculty join a collaborative department at a Carnegie R1 research institution with active doctoral programs and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across Texas Tech University.

Assistant Professor
Complex Analysis

Seeking candidates with an active research program in complex analysis whose interests complement the department’s existing strengths, including geometric function theory, conformal geometry and mapping, Riemann surfaces, complex dynamics, hyperbolic geometry, potential theory, and related areas. Candidates should demonstrate teaching experience in undergraduate mathematics, with opportunities to contribute to graduate mentoring, research, and service.

Assistant Professor
Computational Mathematics

Seeking candidates with an active research program in computational mathematics whose interests complement the department’s existing strengths, including numerical methods for partial differential equations, numerical analysis, scientific computing, computational fluid dynamics, PDE-constrained optimization, mathematics-based artificial intelligence and machine learning, scientific machine learning, physics-informed machine learning, operator learning, AI for PDEs, digital twins, and related areas. Candidates should demonstrate teaching experience in undergraduate mathematics, with opportunities to contribute to graduate mentoring, research, and service.

Assistant Professor
Mathematical Finance

Seeking candidates with a strong research program in mathematical finance, including areas such as asset pricing, portfolio optimization, derivatives, financial econometrics, stochastic and rough volatility, market microstructure, systemic risk, financial networks, artificial intelligence and machine learning in finance, climate finance, digital assets, decentralized finance, and robust optimization. Candidates will have opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, graduate student mentoring, external research funding, and undergraduate and graduate teaching in mathematical finance and related areas.

Assistant Professor
Statistics

Seeking candidates with a strong research program in statistics, with particular interest in statistical learning and artificial intelligence, deep learning and foundation models, functional and longitudinal data analysis, Bayesian statistics, biostatistics and biomedical data science, econometrics and financial statistics, topological data analysis, time series, stochastic control and optimization, and applications involving large or complex data. Outstanding candidates in all areas of statistics are encouraged to apply, with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, graduate mentoring, external research funding, and teaching.
