Undergraduate Advising
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics provides advising support for current and prospective undergraduate students. Advising is designed to help students understand degree requirements, plan coursework effectively, and stay on track for graduation.
Advising for Prospective Undergraduate Students
Students interested in majoring or minoring in Mathematics or Statistics are encouraged to contact an Undergraduate Advisor. Advising support includes assistance with:
- Exploring Mathematics and Statistics degree options
- Understanding admission and prerequisite requirements
- Reviewing sample degree plans and course sequencing
- Discussing career pathways and academic expectations
Advising for Current Undergraduate Students
Current students are encouraged to meet regularly with an Undergraduate Advisor, particularly prior to registration each semester. Advising support includes:
- Degree planning and course selection
- Understanding catalog and graduation requirements
- Registration guidance and prerequisite issues
- Academic policies and progress toward degree completion
- Referrals to tutoring and academic support resources
Degree Planning and Registration
Undergraduate students are responsible for understanding degree requirements and monitoring their academic progress. Students are expected to:
- Meet advising requirements prior to registration
- Review degree plans and course rotations
- Maintain satisfactory academic standing
- Consult advising staff before making schedule changes
Program Changes
Students requesting a change of major, concentration, or program must complete the official Program Change Form.
