Graduate Scholarship Opportunities

Students are considered for departmental scholarships by completing the Texas Tech University Graduate School’s scholarship and fellowship application.

Each year, the Department of Mathematics & Statistics awards more than $10,000 in graduate scholarships. These awards are supported through the endowed funds listed below:

Ronald M. Anderson Graduate Mathematics Fellowship Endowment

Ronald M. Anderson Endowment giving form provides scholarships for graduate students in Mathematics & Statistics. Ron Anderson served on the faculty from 1965 to 2003, including service as department chair and dean of the Graduate School.

W.P. Dayawansa Endowment

W.P. Dayawansa Endowment giving form supports scholarships for graduate students. Professor Dayawansa served from 1996 to 2006 and was well-respected for his mathematical work.

Benjamin S. Duran Scholarship Endowment

Benjamin S. Duran Endowment giving form provides support to graduate students. Dr. Duran served from 1971 to 2002, supervised over 50 students, and was a highly respected statistician.

Gordon Fuller Mathematics Scholarship Endowment

Gordon Fuller Endowment giving form supports graduate scholarship awards. Fuller authored several undergraduate textbooks and mentored numerous students.

Catherine Granberry Bingham Memorial Scholarship Fund

Catherine Granberry Bingham Scholarship Fund giving form supports graduate students who maintain a 3.5 GPA and are actively engaged in research.

Thomas G. McLaughlin Graduate Scholarship Endowment in Mathematics

Thomas G. McLaughlin Endowment giving form supports graduate scholarships. McLaughlin served from 1973 to 2001 and remained active in research after retirement.

Pearce Family Graduate Scholarship Endowment in Pure Mathematics

Pearce Family Endowment giving form supports graduate studies in pure mathematics. Kent Pearce modernized the department’s IT infrastructure and served as chair.

John T. White Graduate Scholarship in Mathematics Endowment

John T. White Endowment giving form provides scholarships for graduate students. White served on the faculty from 1965 to 1998.

Patrick Odell Endowment

The Patrick Odell Endowment (Alumni Association - 560) supports graduate scholarships in Mathematics & Statistics. Patrick Odell served as department chair during the establishment of the Ph.D. program and played a key role in hiring faculty to build the department’s doctoral research strengths.

Public School Teachers Fund

The Public School Teachers Fund (Alumni Association - 555) supports scholarships for graduate students in Mathematics. Contributions help advance the education and development of future mathematicians by providing financial assistance to deserving students.

Hermann Reynolds Endowment

The Hermann Reynolds Endowment (Alumni Association - 600) provides scholarships in memory of Hermann Reynolds, a graduate student who passed away shortly after completing his master’s degree. The endowment honors his contributions and dedication to the discipline.

SIAM Scholarship Support


The Texas Tech Chapter of SIAM is a graduate student organization that promotes interest in applied mathematics and computational science. Contributions help support scholarships for graduate students in Mathematics & Statistics. Email the faculty advisor for instructions to donate.
