Dr. Bono

Dr. Bono’s research explores how viruses adapt and evolve in response to changing environments. Her lab investigates ecological drivers of viral host range evolution, sociovirology, and the isolation of viruses from environmental samples. She also leads SEA-PHAGES, a discovery-based undergraduate research course through the TrUE Scholars program.

Dr. Cañas-Carrell

Dr. Cañas-Carrell is a nationally recognized leader in environmental toxicology and serves as Chair of the Department of Environmental Toxicology. Her expertise in nanotoxicology helps researchers understand how nanomaterials affect the environment. She also supports STEM initiatives across the university as Interim Vice Provost for Curriculum and Director of TTU’s STEM CORE.

Dr. Millerick

Dr. Millerick leads a research group studying how microbes interact with pollutants in groundwater and built environments. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois and holds dual bachelor’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering from Florida State. She is also deeply committed to STEM outreach and mentoring future scientists.
