Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA)

In the department, we value every applicant to our master's and doctoral programs. As part of our commitment to you, all applicants are considered for Teaching Assistantships. Our goal is to support as many qualified students as possible each year, making you an integral part of our mission.

The benefits of the teaching assistantship include a monthly stipend and a remission of most tuition and fees. All supported students do pay some tuition each semester. The stipend starts at $2,000 per month, with potential increases available as students complete the preliminary and qualifying exam milestones in their graduate program.

For all students in good standing in the department, support is guaranteed to continue. Master's students are supported for a period of two years. Doctoral students are supported for up to five years. There is a process to request a sixth year of support, but it is not guaranteed.

Additional support is typically available in the summer terms.
